Over time, there are constant shifts in the tide of visual language. Our standards of beauty are redefined, but are also cyclical. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, is both true and obsolete.
The first time I ever photographed a curve model was when the curve industry was still in nascent stages. I myself, had to relearn how to regard beauty, having been constantly told that skinny is the only beautiful, something which has only been the standard in our society for about 30 years or so. A short time, but long enough for me to have grown up with it being fully mainlined into my consciousness.
These pictures of Cris are completely unretouched. Something which a few years ago I wouldn’t have dreamt of putting out on the internet, thinking of it as a half finished job. Once again, I am having to re-learn; how to strip away the old visual language; how to appreciate the beauty that should be self-evident.
